Hearing Tests
in Scottsdale, AZ
A comprehensive hearing test is the first step toward better hearing. We offer diagnostic hearing tests for adults of all ages. The hearing exam will provide you with the information you need to make informed decisions about your hearing health.
During the hearing test you will sit in a soundproof booth with a pair of headphones on. You will listen for a series of sounds that range in volume and pitch. The purpose of the hearing test is to assess your ability to hear certain sounds, as well as assess how well you can distinguish speech in the presence of noise. We use a range of advanced testing procedures, including:
- Pure Tone Audiometry
- Speech understanding and Word recognition Tests
- Immittance testing
The results of your hearing exam will be recorded on an audiogram, which our audiologist will go over with you in detail so you can understand where your hearing is at and what your best path forward is.
Hearing Aid Fittings
Hearing aids are not one size fits all. Choosing the right hearing aid is a balance of knowledge and personal preference. We take into consideration the results of your hearing test as well as your hearing history to determine what kind of hearing aid will be best for you. We also consider personal factors, such as your lifestyle, listening needs, activity level, and comfort preferences. Once we have determined which hearing aid will be a good fit for your unique needs, our audiologist will expertly program and fit the aids to you. Hearing aids should fit comfortably yet securely in/around your ear. They should also be programmed to your exact hearing prescription.
Real Ear Measurement
When fitting hearing aids, our team uses real ear measurements to make sure your devices are performing at their best. Real ear measurement is a method used to verify that your hearing aids are programmed correctly to your ear anatomy and hearing loss. This involves:
- Measuring how sound is delivered by the hearing aids and interacts with your ear canal
- Fine-tuning the hearing aid to ensure sound is delivered accurately
- Ensuring optimal performance by adjusting the amount of amplification provided by the hearing aid for soft, moderate and loud sounds

Tinnitus Management
Tinnitus is described as hearing a buzzing, humming, or ringing in the ears when no external sound is present. Tinnitus can range from mildly annoying to debilitating depending on the severity. If you have persistent tinnitus that is affecting your quality of life, we can help.
We will work closely with you to develop strategies to minimize the impact of tinnitus on your daily life. In some cases, hearing aids with a tinnitus masking feature can greatly help.
