Hearing FAQs
If you have already noticed signs of hearing loss and the results of your hearing test indicate a loss present, it is best to not delay. The longer you wait to manage hearing loss with hearing aids the more difficult it will be to adjust to hearing soft sounds again. You also increase your chances of losing your speech recognition because your brain begins to fill in the gaps and forgets certain words that you cannot hear.
If you have a diagnosed hearing loss, there are many hearing aid options available that can help you maintain your health and communication.
Hearing aids have a lifespan of 3-7 years. How long they last you depends greatly on how well you take care of your devices. It is important to bring them in for regular maintenance and check-ups as well as clean them on a daily basis. New hearing aid technology is released around every 3 years, which is when many patients like to upgrade their technology to take advantage of the new advancements.
Hearing aids are water resistant but they are not waterproof. When swimming or showering you should always take your hearing aids out and store them in a protective case. Hearing aids are incredibly durable and they can withstand every day moisture such as sweat or rain but they should be dried off after with a soft, clean cloth.
